Im back blogging..
well its been a month of high expections and they have delivered..
First Congratulations to the NEW YORK YANKEES for Winning the MLB World Series ‘09 and indeed they are back on top.. After almost a decade of Championship set backs the Bombers are AGAIN Champions of the World.. 1 year has passed and victory is indeed sweet.. Now since the startof Free-Agency has been officially started all the teams have to start working again.. working on improving or retaining their current roster.. As for the World Champs they have to focused on “or” they will re-sign their FA players.. Namely WS ‘ 09 MVP Hideki Matsui (DH), Johnny Damon (LF), WS clincher SP Andy Pettite, Xavier Nady (RF), and Back-up catcher Jose Molina.
A lot of questions now arise on who to sign and who not to sign.. Matsui? He really had the power last WS but the question is with his banged-up knees will gamble and sign a DH “only” player for the whole year.. DAMON? He maybe aging but his speed is still there, showing his power last season as he put up carreer high in home runs, take away the weak throwing arm but damon still is a dangerous hitter on top of the Bombers Lineup.. PETTITE? Getting old but shows his veteran smarts and command of the game where it matters the most, clinch many WS games and still can get out of jam in-between innings, retiring or one more world series run for andy…. NADY? with swisher in the line up and young prospects rising up to expectations yankees may have something to think about before signing xavier.. and JOSE MOLINA? not so much of a strong bat but his defensive wiz has been unquestionable all year long and the fact the AJ Burnett is signed for multiple seasons i say this coz its been a true fact that Burnett pitches well with molina catching.. and do I hear ROY HALLADAY trade rumors… Phil Hughes or Joba? still too early.. it will be a very interesting off-season again for the yanks…
Victory Number 2
its boxing’s pound for pound king and Philippines very own.. MANNY “PACMAN” PACQUIAO… congratulations for defeating Miguel Cotto in their much awaited fight last November 14. Indeed manny again showed the whole world that he is the real deal.. 2 knock downs in the early rounds and cotto never recovered.. Pacman smelled blood and he went right thru it beating up cotto with all the punches known in the game.. In fact some punches he never had before are the ones who hurt cotto.. eventually stopping the fight 55 secs into the 12th and final round.. where it should have been stopped earlier but the fighter that he is cotto wanted to fight some more but to save him from more damage the referree rush into him to give Pacquiao the TKO win.. Despite the distractions of mother nature during his training time Pacquiao was able to prepare well for the fight and well man he really was prepared..
Well the fight was a sellout and a crowd’s delight.. Maybe one of the best fights of the past decades.. then Whats next in line.. Pacquiao vs Mayweather is something to look for and will update you guys regarding the development of this Historical Fight..
Yankees are back in the ALCS
by admin on Oct.15, 2009, under MLB
2004.. mark it.. it has been the last year the New York Yankees have reached the ALCS.. by then they have lost to long time rival Boston Red Sox who eventually won the World Series. But now the Yankees are back where they belong as what every baseball followers have believe they should be because of the massive player acquisitions they have done in the past offseason.
They will be facing the Los Angeles Angels who has been dominating their division in the past decade who swept the Red Sox in their own ALDS. I believe that this will be a good match-up.. Starting Pitching, Closers.. in other Pitching Match-Ups.. but the thing im looking forward to is Power vs Speed.. The yankees have the power sluggers who can put runners in bases and eventually score them but the angels have the speed who loves to run and steal bases in other to have runners in scoring position. This is a well balance match-up butI still believe the Yankees have the edge due to their players who have been a part of World Series teams (4 players from the yankees of 96-2000).
It has been a very a dangerous line-up since the start of the season and now with the resurgence of Alex Rodriguez in the Playoffs it will be very difficult for opposing teams on match up and pitching. But we never count on these Halo’s.
For sure it will be a very nice and exciting series this coming Saturday (Singapore/Philippines Time).. Something to look forward to..
Who do you think will win and in how many games? Throw your comments.
